Ardnish is a comfortable self catering house with six bedrooms over two floors and located in the village of Acharacle.
Situated on the west coast of Scotland on the Ardnamurchan peninsula the village sits at the western end of Loch Shiel and close to the village of Salen on Loch Sunart . The area is bounded by wilderness and steeped in history with strong links to the MacDonalds – Lords of the Isles.
In Gaelic the area is known as An Garbh Criochan – literally The Rough Bounds
Groups or families of 10 to 14 can explore the area from this wilderness base.
Natural designations such as Special Protection Areas, Sites of Special Scientific Interest, RAMSAR and National Scenic Area can be explored before returning to your self catering holiday haven. Especially popular around the area are well marked and accessible walks with everything from a short 30 minute stroll through the Sunart Oakwoods to a more strenuous 3 – 4 hour trek across the hills on the Silver Walk made famous by Bonnie Prince Charlie on his way to KinLoch Moidart House.
Loch Moidart is some six miles over the hill towards Glenuig and the Jacobite rebellion is recorded here in the form of the Seven Men of Moidart in the visible form of seven elm trees which stand at the head of the loch.
Scottish holidays cannot be bettered other than in in this west coast hideaway.
If you love the outdoors and like to take things at a slow and steady pace then this could be your ideal destination.
